The city has grown at a dizzying pace in recent decades, and thousands of young women have come to the capital seeking a way to support their families. But the path is fraught with danger, and many have fallen into networks of exploitation and white slavery. MarĂa Ana Allsopp, a young woman from high society, is deeply moved by the plight of these women forced to sell their bodies on the streets. Together with Father Francisco of AsĂs MĂ©ndez, she founds a new congregation: a house whose doors remain open day and night, a safe refuge for so many abandoned women. Yet threats from the outside soon loom over this determined group of women whose « madness » is to save and restore the dignity of all those who have lost it.
